Aichi-Nagoya, Sept. 22 -- India produced a sensational all-round performance to thrash Sri Lanka by 147 runs and clinch the women's T20 cricket gold medal at the Asian Games here on Tuesday.
India, who opted to bat after winning the toss, first posted a record 216 for three before their bowlers dismantled Sri Lanka for 69 in just 15.4 overs.
The 147-run victory was built on a breathtaking batting display led by Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma and Richa Ghosh, followed by a superb collective effort from India's spinners.
Mandhana smashed 79 off 45 balls, Shafali contributed 48 off 29 and Ghosh finished unbeaten on 49 off just 22 balls as India registered the highest-ever women's cricket total in Asian Games history.
