Dubai, Sept. 13 -- A record-breaking half-century from Shafali Verma and a superb bowling display powered India to a 72-run victory over Sri Lanka and their eighth Women's Asia Cup title at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium here on Sunday.

Opting to bat first, India posted a formidable 183 for five in 20 overs, with Shafali leading the charge with a 39-ball 68. The 22-year-old smashed nine fours and two sixes and reached her 21st T20I half-century in just 24 balls, registering the fastest fifty in Women's T20 Asia Cup history.

Shafali found an equally fluent partner in Smriti Mandhana, who struck 59 off 39 balls with five fours and three sixes. The openers put on 129 runs in 12.5 overs, giving India a commanding start in the final....
