Bengaluru, July 16 -- India on Thursday broke a four-year deadlock among BRICS nations by securing consensus on the bloc's first-ever Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in standardisation, a move expected to deepen collaboration on trade, technical regulations and emerging technologies while giving developing economies a stronger voice in shaping global standards.
The landmark pact, to be signed during the fifth BRICS Heads of National Standards Bodies (NSB) meeting in Bengaluru under India's chairmanship, is being projected as the principal outcome of the two-day conference attended by heads of standards bodies from the 11 BRICS member countries.
