Margao, June 3 -- The Indian football team marched into the final of the SAFF Women's Championship 2026 after defeating Bhutan 1-0 in the semis at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here in Goa on Wednesday.

Sanfida Nongrum (58') scored the solitary goal of the match to propel world No. 69 India into Friday's summit clash against reigning champions Bangladesh.

Record five-time SAFF Women's Championship winners India will play their first final in the tournament after six years. They beat Nepal to win the 2019 edition.

In the last two editions - in 2022 and 2024 - the Indian women's football team had been knocked out in the semi-finals.
