Colombo, Aug. 23 -- India reached 88 for two at lunch on the opening day of the second Test against Sri Lanka at the Sinhalese Sports Club here on Sunday, after surviving a series of early scares.
India, who opted to bat after winning the toss, lost KL Rahul for 18 and Yashasvi Jaiswal for 45, while Devdutt Padikkal survived two close chances to remain unbeaten on 13.
Sri Lanka also wasted a review early in the innings when Asitha Fernando trapped Rahul on the pads while the batsman attempted a flick. The ball struck Rahul around middle and leg, but the review showed it was angling past the leg stump, leaving the hosts without a review.
