Thiruvananthapuram, Aug. 15 -- The State's Independence Day celebrations were held with Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan hoisting the national flag at 9 am at the Central Stadium here on Friday.

The ceremony was followed by a floral shower from an Indian Air Force helicopter.

The Chief Minister received the salute of the parade comprising contingents of various armed forces, mounted police, NCC, Scouts and Guides, and Student Police Cadets, and delivered the Independence Day address.
