Chennai, Feb. 3 -- The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday arrested a Stenographeremployed at the Income Tax Department, Chennai, for receiving bribe to the tune of Rs 1.5 lakh.
A CBI release said, the Stenographer, Abhinandan Singh, employed ay Non-Corporate Ward-IncomeTax Department, was arrested while demanding and accepting an undue advantage of Rs.1,50,000from the complainant.
The CBI registered a case yesterday based on the complaint against the accused on allegations thatthe accused demanded a bribe/undue advantage of 10% of the outstanding Income Tax dues to thetune of Rs.19 lakh for the Assessment Year 2020-2021 to nullify the same.
