Dharamshala, March 25 -- Executive Vice Chairman of the Haryana Sahitya Evam Sanskriti Academy, Prof. Kuldeep Chand Agnihotri, on Monday emphasized the need to include classical texts like the 'Nilamata Purana' and 'Rajatarangini' in history curricula, stating that India has a distinct tradition and style of historiography.

Speaking at a two-day national seminar titled 'Comprehensive Analysis of Ancient Kashmir: In the Perspective of Nilamata Purana and Rajatarangini,' organized by the Kashmir Studies Centre of Central University of Himachal Pradesh, Prof. Agnihotri said that ignorance of the Indian approach to history writing has led many Western historians to wrongly assume that India lacks a historical tradition.
