Thiruvananthapuram, July 20 -- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for Kannur and Kasaragod districts on Monday, forecasting isolated very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms as widespread rain is expected to continue across Kerala.

According to the updated five-day weather forecast, the two districts could receive 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm of rainfall within 24 hours.

A Yellow Alert has also been sounded for Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad on July 20, while Kannur and Kasaragod will remain under a Yellow Alert on July 21. The warning indicates the possibility of isolated heavy rainfall ranging between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm in 24 hours, along with thunderstorms.
