Panchkula, July 9 -- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a comprehensive weather warning for northwest India, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds across several states over the next week.

The alert, issued by the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), New Delhi at 12:15 pm on Thursday, indicates that Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are likely to experience the most significant monsoon activity between July 9 and July 13.

The IMD clarified that each day's weather warning remains valid from 8:30 am IST of that day until 8:30 am IST the following day.
