Mumbai, Aug. 6 -- The Indian Medical Association (IMA) assured the Bombay High Court that it is withdrawing the doctors' strike after the court stepped into the ongoing strike by resident doctors in Maharashtra, taking suo motu cognisance of the disruption to public healthcare services. The assurance, given through the IMA's counsel, is expected to help restore normal hospital services affected by the statewide agitation.
Hearing the matter, a division bench observed that doctors could not continue to suspend essential medical services indefinitely and issued notices to the IMA Maharashtra, the Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) and the State Medical Education Department.
