Bhopal, Jan. 28 -- The police in Khandwa city of Madhya Pradesh busted an illegal firecrackers factory in a colony, and seized almost two tonnes of gunpowder, sulphur and other material used to manufacture crackers from the spot.

Police officials claimed that the main accused is a Congress leader named Professor Imran Paryani. The police said Paryani has served as a state spokesperson of the Youth Congress in the past. Khandwa SP Manoj Kumar Rai said on Tuesday that the factory was busted inside the Samyak Gold colony on the outskirts of the city. It was being operated on the roof of the colony's clubhouse building.
