Chennai, June 1 -- At a time when India's XR ecosystem was witnessing rapid growth with more than 1,000 startups and 1,000 SMEs currently operating in the sector, the IIT-Madras (IIT-M) research group has called for a strategic push to create two million high-value 'eXtended Reality' jobs by 2030.
A report by IIT-M researchers recommended shifting India's XR sector, which includes Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality (MR), from service delivery to original IP creation, advanced R&D & strategic manufacturing.
The new report also outlined a roadmap to position India as a global leader in Extended Reality (XR) technologies and innovation.
