Mumbai, Sept. 23 -- Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) President Raj Thackeray has expressed deep anguish over the tragic suicide of 20-year-old IIT Bombay student Sahil Wakode, slamming political elements and commentators for derailing the debate into "toxic caste politics" instead of addressing systemic failures.
In a strongly worded statement, Thackeray criticised both sides for rushing to judgement before formal investigations conclude.
He pointed out that while it was wrong for the administration to prematurely accuse the deceased student of using ChatGPT during an exam-a gaffe for which the institute later apologised-it is equally unfair to brand professors as culprits without concrete proof of caste-based harassment.
