Varanasi, June 13 -- Students from the Department of Electronics Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) have achieved a historic milestone in the field of graduate-level research and semiconductor innovation. They completed the institute's first successful silicon tape-out.

It is noteworthy that this project was completed primarily by second-year B.Tech. students in just five months.

The student team developed a 64-point Fast Fourier Transform hardware accelerator chip, a critical component of modern signal processing systems. This chip was developed using the 130-nanometer SKY130 process design kit and submitted for fabrication in the multi-project wafer shuttle program.
