Geneva, Oct. 29 -- The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) on Tuesday condemned the killing of five Sudanese Red Crescent (SRC) volunteers who were on duty in the city of Bara, North Kordofan, Sudan, on Oct. 27, saying it was "horrified, shocked, and deeply saddened" by the incident.

According to an IFRC statement, three other volunteers remain missing.

"Any attack on humanitarian teams is unacceptable," the IFRC said, reiterating its call for full respect for the Red Cross and Red Crescent emblems and the vital humanitarian services they represent.
