Kochi, July 15 -- In a major boost to sustainable aquaculture, scientists at the ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (ICAR-CIFT), Kochi, have secured an Indian patent for an innovative solar-powered remote-controlled fish feed distribution system designed to improve feeding efficiency and reduce feed wastage in fish farming.

The patented invention, titled "A Feed Distributor System and a Method Thereof" was developed by Dr. Aniesrani Delfiya D.S., Dr. S. Murali and Dr. George Ninan.

According to ICAR-CIFT, the floating, solar-powered feed distribution system can be operated remotely to ensure uniform feed distribution throughout aquaculture ponds.
