Tehran, June 21 -- International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi has called for renewed diplomatic efforts to address tensions in the Middle East, as technical-level talks between the United States and Iran began in Switzerland on Sunday.
Grossi said diplomacy must be given "every opportunity to succeed" at a critical moment. He also met Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis to review recent developments related to Iran and the broader role of the IAEA.
The statement by Grossi comes as US-Iran talks are being held in the Swiss resort of Burgenstock with delegation from Qatar and Pakistan taking part in it.
