Varanasi, May 24 -- A joint team of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) and the Customs Department conducted a major crackdown on drug trafficking at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport on Saturday, arresting two smugglers.

Approximately 20 kg of hydroponic marijuana was recovered from them, estimated to be worth over Rs 20 crore.

The two accused have been identified as Shahnaz and Yusuf, residents of Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh.

According to sources, suspicious activity was observed during the baggage checking of the two passengers, who arrived in Varanasi from Bangkok on Air India Express flight IX-215 at around 5 pm.
