Hyderabad, Sept. 5 -- In a landmark step, the Hyderabad City Police today introduced a women's mounted unit, the first of its kind in the country.
Talking to the media, Commissioner of Police C V Anand, said ten women constables from the Armed Reserve have completed two months of training at the Goshamahal Mounted Unit andwill now be deployed for bandobust, VIP movements and patrolling duties.
The Commissioner said the move was aimed at bringing women to the forefront in all fields of policing.
Alongside, the police are expanding the dog squad from 34 to 54, with new dogs being trained at the Integrated Intelligence Training Academy (IITA) for narcotics and explosives detection as well as criminal tracking.
