Hyderabad, Jan. 7 -- In a strong warning, Hyderabad Commissioner of Police VC Sajjanar on Wednesday announced that cases of food adulteration would be treated on par with an attempt to murder, citing the grave threat it poses to public health.
The Hyderabad police will adopt a zero-tolerance approach towards food adulteration and deal with offenders sternly, said the Commissioner after chairing a high-level coordination meeting with senior officials.
To effectively curb the adulteration menace, the Commissioner said specialised joint task force teams comprising police personnel and food safety officials would be formed shortly. These teams will focus on identifying, raiding and prosecuting those involved in adulteration activities.
