Hyderabad, Oct. 7 -- Former NAAC Director Prof V.S. Prasad on Wednesday said Open Universities have played a major role in making higher education accessible to people of all ages and diverse social backgrounds, contributing significantly to the democratisation of education.
Addressing the 27th Convocation of Dr B.R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU) as the Chief Guest here, Prof Prasad said the open university system initially faced concerns over academic credibility and recognition when it was introduced in India, but gradually established itself as an important means of expanding access to higher education.
