Hyderabad, April 13 -- Dr. Soumya Mishra, Director General of Prisons & Correctional Services, on Monday inaugurated a newly-constructed barrack at Central Prison, Chanchalguda, aimed at enhancing accommodation capacity and improving inmate living conditions.
The new facility will house an additional 84 prisoners and is expected to help reduce overcrowding in the prison.
Addressing officials, Mishra said the project, pending for nearly five years, was completed within six months, reflecting the department's focus on strengthening prison infrastructure and improving inmate management.
She added that such initiatives contribute to a more humane and reform-oriented prison environment.
