Hyderabad, May 5 -- A Junior Assistant working in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) was caught red-handed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while accepting a bribe in the city on Monday.

According to an ACB statement on Tuesday, B Srilatha, Junior Assistant (Revenue/Tax) in Borabanda Circle-37 of Khairatabad Zone, was trapped at around 1400 hours near Ratnadeep at Yousufguda checkpost.

She had allegedly demanded a total bribe of Rs 5 lakh from a complainant for facilitating official work related to obtaining house construction permission.

The Accused Officer accepted an initial instalment of Rs 1 lakh from the complainant when ACB personnel apprehended her. The tainted amount was recovered from her possession, and chem...
