Hyderabad, Jan. 25 -- Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma on Sunday urged citizens to exercise their right to vote responsibly, stating that democratic institutions remain robust only when voters participate with awareness and integrity.
Speaking at the state-level celebrations of the 16th National Voters' Day at Ravindra Bharathi here, Varma said the theme "My India, My Vote" underscored the central role of citizens in strengthening Indian democracy.
National Voters' Day is observed annually on January 25 to mark the establishment of the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Referring to Article 324 of the Constitution, the Governor emphasised the independence and impartiality of the ECI in conducting free and fair elections.
