Hyderabad, Sept. 12 -- The BioAgri Input Producers Association (BIPA) on Saturday called for a phased 25 per cent reduction in the use of chemical fertilisers and pesticides through the scientific integration of biological inputs, saying the move could potentially save the national exchequer around Rs 40,000 crore annually.

The association said reducing dependence on chemical inputs could also lower farm input costs, improve soil health, reduce import dependence and enhance the competitiveness of Indian agricultural exports.

BIPA office-bearers announced the proposal at a press conference here ahead of the sixth annual BioAgri Industry Summit, BIOAGRI 2026, scheduled to be held at Ramoji Film City on October 7 and 8.
