Hyderabad, Aug. 13 -- West Bengal's "Flag Man" Priya Ranjan Sarkar, who has spent the past 14 years collecting discarded and damaged National Flags, on Thursday urged citizens to avoid indiscriminate use of plastic Tricolours and ensure that flags used during celebrations are collected and disposed of with dignity.

Sarkar, who arrived in Hyderabad at the invitation of PR CommUNITY to spread awareness on the respectful handling of the National Flag, said patriotism should not end with the lowering of the Tricolour.

Speaking to reporters, the 39-year-old government employee from Bally in Howrah said he had collected around one lakh discarded flags over the years with the support of nearly 50 volunteers.
