Hyderabad, June 22 -- The Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute celebrated its Silver Jubilee in Hyderabad on Monday, commemorating a remarkable journey of hope, healing and compassionate service.
The institution traces its origins to the vision of Basavatarakam, wife of legendary leader and former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao (NTR), who wished that no family should lose a loved one to cancer because treatment was unaffordable or inaccessible.
The Nandamuri family embraced that wish as a social responsibility, transforming personal grief into a public mission.
NTR laid the foundation stone for the hospital in 1988 with the objective of making advanced cancer treatment accessible to all sections of society.
