Moscow, Nov. 9 -- Hungary was excluded from the US sanctions on Russian oil exports to the EU, and the European union also made the same exception for Budapest, a spokesperson of the EU Commission told RIA Novosti.
"As part of its sanctions packages, the EU Commission banned imports of Russian oil in 2022, except for Hungary and Slovakia, which have exemptions from the general EU ban on Russian oil imports. The purpose of these exemptions is to ensure security of supply for these Member States. Therefore, they are currently allowed to import Russian crude oil," the spokesperson said.
