Budapest, Aug. 26 -- After Ukraine's attack on the Soviet era Druzhba oil pipeline, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban once again lashed out at Kyiv, saying it cannot make its way into the European union through extortion, threats, and by bombing energy routes to coerce neutral countries into supporting it.

Accusing the Ukrainian forces of deliberately targeting the pipeline, Orban said it was a targeted attack on Budapest's energy security "because we don't support their EU membership," reports RT.

The bombing occurred on the eve of Ukraine's 34th Independence Day, during which President Volodymyr Zelensky said Kyiv would like to maintain friendly ties with Budapest, but the 'friendship' depends on Hungary.
