Kolkata, June 4 -- Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP) chief and Rejinagar MLA Humayun Kabir on Thursday extended an unexpected political olive branch to former chief minister Mamata Banerjee, offering to vacate his Assembly seat to facilitate her return to the state legislature through a by-election.
Kabir, who was expelled from the Trinamool Congress (TMC) late last year before floating his own political outfit, said he would be willing to resign from the Rejinagar Assembly constituency in Murshidabad if Banerjee wished to contest from the seat.
