Wayanad, July 7 -- Kerala Agriculture Minister T. Siddique today described the disaster at the tunnel construction site in Kalladi under Meppadi Grama Panchayat in Wayanad as a man-made disaster, not a natural landslide.
He said rescue operations are being carried out on a war footing and assured that all lapses that led to the tragedy would be thoroughly investigated.
The Minister said the collapse occurred after large quantities of excavated soil were dumped in an unscientific manner at the tunnel construction site. At the time of the incident, workers were reportedly constructing drainage channels to divert rainwater.
