Kolkata, April 23 -- With close to 79 percent polling till 3 pm in the first phase of theWest Bengal Assembly polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursdat said that the huge turnout is an indication that "fear is losing and trust is winning".

Speaking at a rally in Mathurapur of South 24 Parganas district, the Prime Minister said, "A storm of change is sweeping West Bengal. I appeal to first-time voters to vote in favour of trust and drive away fear. I can clearly see that with the pace of voting, fear is losing and trust is winning."Citing the turnout and enthusiasm among voters, he added that the large gathering at the rally itself signalled the defeat of the ruling All India Trinamool Congress.
