Shimla, March 7 -- In a move to promote clean energy, the Himachal Pradesh Transport Department has started generating its own electricity through solar power to charge electric vehicles at the Transport Directorate in Shimla.
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri who also hold the portfolio of transport greeted the department for making major move.
A 15-kilowatt solar panel system has been installed as a pilot project. The electricity produced from the panels will be used to charge the department's electric vehicles, which will help eliminate electricity bills for vehicle charging.
