Shimla, June 3 -- : In a major relief to fishermen dependent on reservoir fisheries, the Himachal Pradesh Government has reduced the royalty on fish catch from reservoirs from 7.5 per cent to one per cent, a move expected to benefit more than 6,500 fishermen families across the state.

The decision, announced in line with the Budget 2026-27 proposals, will apply to fishermen operating in the Gobind Sagar, Pong Dam, Chamera, Ranjit Sagar and Kol Dam reservoirs.

The government had earlier reduced the royalty from 15 per cent to 7.5 per cent.
