Shimla/New Delhi, Feb. 11 -- Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday held detailed discussions with former union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram to explore financial and legal options to address the serious fiscal strain faced by Himachal Pradesh following the discontinuation of the Revenue Deficit Grant (RDG).

Sukhu left Shimla for New Delhi earlier in the day and met Chidambaram to deliberate on the widening gap between the state's revenue receipts and committed expenditure. The Chief Minister said the interaction focused on identifying practical solutions to bridge an estimated shortfall of around Rs six thousand crore, which has emerged after the Centre did not provide RDG support in the current financial framework.
