Shimla, July 31 -- In a four-day marathon meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the Himachal Pradesh Cabinet approved the purchase of a new Mercedes-Benz car worth Rs 92 lakh for the Governor, replacing the existing five-year-old vehicle.

The Cabinet cleared several key decisions including extending reservation to Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in municipal elections. Industry Minister Harshvardhan Chauhan informed that OBCs constitute around 25 pet cent of the state's population and will now receive due representation in the upcoming urban local body polls. As a result, Deputy Commissioners will revise the existing reservation rosters.
