Shimla, March 20 -- Himachal Pradesh has registered a steady push in the renewable energy sector, adding nearly 100 MW of solar power capacity over the last two year, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu informed the State Assembly on Friday.

Responding to a question raised by Jhanduta MLA Jeet Ram Katwal, the Chief Minister said the government is expanding its renewable portfolio alongside its traditional hydropower strength, with the state already harnessing around 13,000 MW of combined hydro and solar potential.

The Chief Minister said that solar capacity reached 188 MW in 2024-25 and is projected to rise to 209 MW in 2025-26, indicating a clear upward trajectory in the sector.
