Dharamshala, Aug. 2 -- The Tibetan Parliament-in-exile has issued an open letter to world leaders, the United Nations, human rights organisations and religious leaders, urging immediate international action against China's Ethnic Unity and Progress Law, which came into force on July 1, 2026.
The democratically elected Tibetan body alleged that the law, presented by China as a measure to promote national unity, poses a serious threat to the Tibetan language, religion, culture, identity and fundamental human rights. It also referred to the recent death of Tibetan activist Lobga Rangzen, describing it as a reminder of Tibetans' struggle for freedom and dignity.
