Palampur, May 24 -- Shanta Kumar today welcomed a recent Supreme Court ruling concerning reservation benefits for affluent families belonging to reserved categories, calling it a "significant and corrective decision".

Addressing mediapersons here, the former Chief Minister said the apex court had once again ruled that children of highly placed officers from reserved categories should not continue to avail reservation benefits.

Referring to a case from Karnataka, he said reservation benefits were allegedly granted to the son of parents who were both IAS officers.
