Patna, April 16 -- In a significant development in the case of the suspicious death of a NEET aspirant staying in a hostel in Patna, a special court Thursday granted bail to the hostel owner who had been lodged in jail in connection with the matter.

The court of Special Judge (POCSO Act) Rajeev Ranjan Raman ordered the release of the accused Manish Ranjan on bail. The bail plea was filed under Section 187 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, with the defence arguing that the accused had been in custody since January 15 and that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had failed to file a chargesheet within the stipulated 90-day period.
