Thrissur, July 27 -- The Hortus Malabaricus Botanical Garden and Research Institute (HMBGRI) has inaugurated 'Ayur Udhyan', a living sanctuary designed around the principles of Ayurveda, at its campus in Cheruthuruthi.

The sanctuary was inaugurated by Ayurveda Medical Association of India (AMAI) President Dr K. S. Vishnu Nampoothiry in the presence of Ayurveda scholars, academicians, researchers, conservationists and students.

In his inaugural address, Dr Vishnu Nampoothiry stressed that the long-term effectiveness and sustainability of Ayurveda depend on the conservation and scientific understanding of indigenous medicinal plants.
