Motihari, April 3 -- At least four people have died and several others lost their eyesight after allegedly consuming spurious liquor in Bihar's East Champaran district.

Officials sources said here on Friday that the first casualty was reported on Thursday when Chandu (38), son of Suresh Prasad and a resident of Pulwaghat, died after allegedly consuming the illicit liquor. Later in the night, Pramod Yadav (30), a resident of Shankar Sariya Parsouna Mushari Tola under Turkaulia Police Station limits, also succumbed.

On Friday morning, two more deaths were reported: Parikshan Manjhi (46) from Parsouna and Hira Lal Mahto from Hardiya village under Raghunathpur Police Station area, taking the toll to four.
