Sultanpur, March 6 -- A 26-year-old man was allegedly shot dead and two others were injured after a dispute between relatives escalated into gunfire in Sultanpur district today evening.
According to police, the incident took place in Janaurpur village under the Kotwali Dehat police station area.
The deceased has been identified as Mohit (26), the younger son of Home Guard Virendra Pratap Sonkar.
Police said that Virendra Pratap Sonkar had an ongoing dispute with another villager, Ramesh Sonkar, who is also a relative. Earlier on Thursday morning, Mohit had an argument with a member of Ramesh Sonkar's family. However, both sides settled the matter at that time and did not file any complaint with the police.
