Hyderabad, March 3 -- Holi, the festival of colours, was celebrated across Telangana on Tuesday with great enthusiasm and traditional gaiety.
The festival, symbolising the victory of good over evil and the arrival of spring, brought vibrant scenes to Hyderabad, its twin city Secunderabad, and several other parts of the state. Revellers smeared each other with colours, danced to drumbeats, and sang festive songs, adding to the cheerful atmosphere.
In many localities, bonfires were lit as part of Holika Dahan, marking the triumph of good over evil by burning effigies of Holika, the sister of demon king Hiranyakashyapu. Shops selling gulal and other colours reported brisk business as people prepared for the celebrations.
