Ranchi, July 11 -- Former India women's hockey captain and Hockey India selection committee member Asunta Lakra has questioned the selection process for the Indian women's team for the 2026 Asian Games, alleging that she was excluded from meetings held to finalise the squad.

Lakra claimed that no online or offline meeting of the selection committee had been convened with her participation after March this year and that her views were not sought before the squad was announced on Friday.

She clarified that she was not questioning the selection of players, including four from Jharkhand, but the procedure adopted for finalising the team.
