Chandigarh, Oct. 29 -- The mortal remains of 28-year-old Sonu, a resident of Madanheri village in Hisar district, was brought back to his hometown today after he died in the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

As the body arrived, grief engulfed the entire village. Relatives broke down in tears, and a deep silence spread through the streets.

Villagers have gathered since early morning to pay their last respects. Hundreds of people from nearby areas also came to the last rites ceremony.

Narnaund MLA Jassi Petwar visited the village to console the family and described the incident as a tragic loss. He urged both the central and state governments to take immediate steps to ensure the safe return of other Indians stranded in Russia.
