Shimla, Sept. 8 -- Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday urged the union Government to issue clear and enabling guidelines for scientific and time-bound dredging in flood-affected river areas of Himachal Pradesh to restore river carrying capacity and reduce disaster risks.

Sukhu raised the issue during a meeting with union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav in New Delhi and discussed various matters related to scientific dredging in vulnerable river stretches of the state.
