Shimla, March 7 -- The Himachal Pradesh government has decided to merge 10 government degree colleges with nearby institutions due to low student enrolment, a move aimed at improving the utilisation of resources and availability of teachers.
The decision was taken by the Higher Education Department after it was found that several colleges were functioning with very small student strength, leading to underutilisation of infrastructure and staff.
Students studying in the colleges that would be merged will be accommodated in nearby colleges to ensure continuation of their studies without disruption.
