Shimla, April 7 -- Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday, announced that the state aims to bring one lakh farmers under natural farming in 2026, reinforcing efforts to promote sustainable agriculture and increase farmers' profitability.

He said the state government has been actively encouraging farmers to adopt natural farming, which reduces input costs while ensuring higher returns.

"Agriculture remains the backbone of Himachal's economy, with nearly 90 percent of the population living in rural areas and over half directly dependent on farming. Our policies aim to strengthen the rural economy and provide farmers with better, remunerative prices," he said.
